What are facial fat transfers
Facial fat transfers augment areas of the face using fat harvested from your abdomen or hip. Similar to facial implants, fat transfers can add volume to deficient areas and give a more balanced appearance and are often combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures.

Facial Implant Procedures – What to expect

Chin implants are often placed through a discrete incision under the chin. Swelling and bruising can be expected during the first week but often resolves within two weeks. Typically, there is minimal discomfort.
Facial Fat Transfers – What to expect
Facial fat transfers are performed by harvesting fat through liposuction of your abdomen or hips. The fat is then processed and injected into the area to be treated through small discrete incisions. There is minimal scarring.
Intravenous sedation or general anesthesia may be used and is determined by you and Dr. Bartlett.
1 to 2 hours. The exact duration of surgery will depend on the treatment plan, techniques used, and if there are other procedures performed during your procedure.

Recovery from Facial Implant or Fat Transfer Surgery
Dr Bartlett and his staff will review details of the recovery process before surgery and provide instructions and prescription medications ahead of time to allow the patient to have a safe and smooth recovery.
Chin implants are commonly performed at the time of a rhinoplasty. The rhinoplasty recovery will dominate the postoperative experience.

With each procedure, swelling and bruising can last for 1 to 2 weeks and can be addressed with the help of cold compresses. Pain medication is prescribed and is typically used for 2 or 3 days after surgery. Numbness and firmness may persist for months but do not affect appearance.

Cost of facial implant and fat transfer surgery is dependent on factors such as the time it takes to perform the surgery, the type of anesthesia used, and the techniques utilized. The biggest factor is the cost of other procedures being performed. If implant is used, there will be an additional fee for the cost of the implant.
